Asi (aah-see) from the Swahili dialect, meaning "it's obvious". And we are obviously just trying to make good music.

"We are not attempting to reinvent the wheel, just trying to put a different spin on it."

Asi (aah-see), is a New York based band whose instrumentation might be familiar, but whose approach to music is both wide-ranging and different. All of the bands material is original and written by the groups co-founders, Kendall Scott (guitar/keyboards) and Alonzo Wright (saxophone/flute/percussion/wind synth).

Asi (aah-see) is joined on this project by Gene Lake on drums (David Sanborn, Steve Coleman, MeShell N'degeocello), Reggie Washington on bass (Branford Marsalis, Steve Coleman, Roy Hargrove) and Jeffery Haynes on percussion (Pat Metheny, Cassandra Wilson, Lizz Wright)
