Marty began playing keyboards and singing in various bands as a teenager. He graduated from school dances to the booze hall/beer joint circuit before settling down to raise a family. His musical tastes mellowed in time and he developed a love for jazz and swing. He credits his mother and her extensive collection of crooners – her favorite, Ol’ Blue Eyes, of course – for the evolution of his vocal style. Ten years ago Beech, his wife and two children, decided to move onto their sailboat and start a new life in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Beech landed a gig in St. Thomas at a benefit concert which, surprisingly enough, featured the music of Frank Sinatra. This opportunity opened many doors for Beech and introduced him to the local music scene. Marty Beech currently performs regularly at a variety of venues on St. Thomas and St. John.
