// The name Cymbolic combines two significant concepts that the band desires to integrate-- the first being "cymbol" and the second being "symbolic." A cymbol, of course, is an instrument with metallic resonation, while symbolic is when a person or object reminds of the externally grandiose or mysterious.

The combining of these two words was inspired by a psalm (115:1), which speaks of reflecting God''s glory from mere mortals. In the view of Cymbolic, all people should be living, moving, breathing symbols of who God is, and it is through this mindset that the band performs. "May the glory never be directed at the band," says Joel Jupp, "but ''may we become lesser, so that He may become greater.'' "
