Folky J started out in a 2 man band called Gangsta Folk ( this band was the original Gangsta Folk established in 1997). Over time many people came and went but the only thing that stayed the same was front man Folky J. Just as the winds of time change direction, so do bands and Gangsta Folk was no exception. In mid 2007, Folky J decided to go solo and released his long anticipated album Wit Sprankles in December of ''07. Folky J''s style is a medley of genres mixed with witty lyrics that yields an uncompromising sound.
