Never intended to be an artist he unexpectedly join the movement of hip-hop as a rapper in 1993. Soon developed interest for producing and went for it. This “One Man Band” handles the majority of his business himself as he becomes a truly independent artist. Listening to groups like Public Enemy, BDP, EPMD, Dr, Dre & Snoop, Tha Rookie automatically wrote english lyrics rather than Dutch ones.

Vocally

Hardheaded like an adolescent this rapper refuses to follow the mainstream. Doesn’t take no for an answer and always keep pushing the limit. Switching styles from melodically flowing to dropping punchlines his delivery is never the same. Bad experiences generate great songs!

Sound

As a producer Tha Rookie puts tracks together that at first might seem empty but after the vocals have been added are a finished puzzle. “I always let an artist work on a draft track. This gives the artist more range to function as an instrument, rather than a guest.” Using these rules the tracks go in any direction. Instrument grooves play a bigger role than drum grooves as this producer loves melodies.
