Cheryl Gleason teaches preschool music and writes songs the children love. If they''re learning about dinosaurs in their regular classroom, she writes a dinosaur song for music class. If they''re learning letter sounds, she''ll compose a song for that too. Several of her songs have been requested for school programs and are a hit with parents and teachers.
Cheryl also gives piano lessons and is a church organist/choir director. She has taught elementary through college-level music and has degrees in music education and education.
The 21 songs on her first CD, Charmers for Children, are just a few of her original songs the preschoolers enjoy. Another 80 original songs are in the recording stage, and will be avilable soon.
All the songs are easily sung by little ones. The singing range is usually less than an octave and repetitive tonal and rhythmic patterns help with pitch-matching. The songs lend themselves to actions, making memorization easier. All have introductions so they can be used for performances. Cheryl has also sung them in head voice, encouraging the use of the lighter head voice for good vocal habits in young children.
