KaylaElise, blind from birth, is a very bright and happy 8yr old. She has been singing all of her life and playing the piano since she was 4yrs old.
In December 2004, while walking by the piano she picked out "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". She was enrolled in piano lessons in January of the next year and ever since, has been rapidly advancing in her God given talents. Kayla attends a regular public school. She is in the 3rd grade but is in the top of her class in reading, math, and spelling. Kayla gets around her school independently with the help of "Bono", her cane. She was also part of a competition cheerleading squad for 3 years as an intricate part of the team. Another one of Kayla''s passions is dance where she performed with all other sighted dancers.
Kayla has an incredible memory and an acute attention to detail that has help her to overcome anything in life. Last year she recorded a 20 song cd titled
"Kayla''s Favorites". Two of the 20 were Kayla''s own compositions. In January 2008, Kayla returned to the studio to do a full length original album titled
''I''m Moving On", which consists of all of her own material. All songs were written and arranged by Kayla. All piano, and singing was also done by Kayla.
She had the Brandon McSwain Band backing her on several songs on the cd. Kayla is very proud of this cd as we all are. She worked very hard
On it and put in a lot of practice hours. When she performs she makes people forget that she is handicapped because she is so happy and bubbly. She
puts smiles on everyone''s faces instead of getting people to feel sorry for her because she has a handicap. She overcomes all and never ceases
to amaze people by what she can do academically, musically, and spiritually. Her motto in life is, "For we walk by faith, not by sight", 1st Corinthians 5:7.
