Jim Gibson grew up in the Baptist church, in Columbus, GA. When he was in elementary school, his father paid him a dime for every hymn he memorized--(later raised to a quarter.)

Jim''s first paying music job was as accompanist for a church choir in a small country church out from town.

So, he comes to playing hymns with a long history--and he loves them. "It''s really hard to beat the power of these simple, strong melodies," he says. "And, when a tune lasts for generations--for hundreds of years in some cases--then you know there is something really special about that song."

These are the songs--old, well-loved hymns--that are on this CD. Jim''s "instant arrangements" are quiet and melodic, and if you like the power and solace of these good old hymns, you''ll appreciate this recording.

Jim Gibson has been a successful commercial pianist in Atlanta since the mid-seventies, and has played thousands of social and corporate engagements of every sort. From this experience has evolved his unique, flowing style.
