Hipmonk is the Louisville, KY band fronted by R Scot Payne and is a collaboration of singer/songwriters--Payne (guitars, vocals), Kirkby Tittle (guitars, vocals), and Patrick Donley (bass). Payne has two independently released albums, Completely Blue (2001) and Sci-Fi Guy (2003), while Tittle and Donley, both of the rock/Americana group, Jakeleg, released two albums on Earxtacy Records, Pour Me to Bed (2000), and Junkyard Café (2001). The collaboration in Hipmonk combines Kirkby''s straight ahead approach exemplified in the ''bourbon-soaked'' sound of Jakeleg, with Scot''s psychotropic, often quirky, melodic and temporal sensibilities. This album rocks, grooves, sways, and swaggers.
