Ron Kornfeld is a classically-trained pianist who has spent his life composing modern classical music. Wings of the Morning, completed in 1995 and now being re-released, is a unique cycle of ten songs without words for the piano. The cycle represents a range of responses to nature and the human experience. It begins with a sunset over the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico and traverses the somber rhythm of the Kaddish on its way to a restless dreamscape. The stillness of the dawn over Colorado accelerates into the rush of grandeur of a mountain sunrise. The day''s continuation brings introspection interrupted by the drama of a noonday thunderstorm. As the end of day approaches, strength is derived from reminiscences of times past. The onset of night''s enveloping power closes the cycle.
