Matt Holdaway began publishing his stories of near death experiences, running from the cops, skateboarding and more in his zine A Multitude of Voices. He then began to tell his stories live at the nomadic variety show A Night of Voices. In 2007 he began to incorporate musicians improvising while he told his stories. At that point Matt Holdaway''s Army was born.
In 2008 Matt Holdaway teamed up with Media Medium and producer Rob Riley. They recorded Matt''s debut album Imminent at Underfoot Studios in California with ten musicians including Klaus Flouride of Dead Kennedy''s and Dave Bartels of Fauna Valetta.
