Often I am asked how long I''ve been playing the guitar.  I usually respond with this story.
I started playing the clarinet when I was in 5th grade. I just loved it. I would play everyday. Do my lessons and always looked for more difficult music to play. I was playing in the 1st chair in 6th grade but when I arrived to 7th grade I was put in the 4th chair playing quarter notes.  I managed to do that for the first quarter of 7th grade then I approached my band instructor.  I asked him if I could play the 1st chair and he promptly replied  "No."  I responded quickly by saying "but I can play the 1st chair music!  Again he responded that I could not.  Boy was I confused,  but I was persistent.....
