Details:
After learning a little about the music business, I thought fifth graders could help produce a CD. When approaching my principal about such a novel idea, his approval was stated in three words-"Go for it." These words resulted in a special music project for four consecutive years with great support from colleagues, the school board, and the community. We formed our own business, Flying V Incorporated, with fifth graders contributing in all aspects of the project. Each time, enough money was made to cover expenses as well as to help our school with worthwhile causes including purchasing small acoustic guitars and keyboards for students to play during music class. By combining all the songs into one CD and offering it worldwide, we hope to generate money for our elementary music program for years. May the sound of music always be an important part of school curriculum.
