From the archives of Onomatopoeia come Eugene Oregon''s original noise boys, Steamshovel Monkey. These cassette recordings, long forgotten, document the 17 year beginnings of musical evoluton by founding members Arlan Schwarzbauer, Dr. Robert Wretch, and Vince Ramirez(current members of Onomatopoeia). With the old school industrial noise/ experimental influences of Einsturzende Neubauten, Blackhouse, Swans, Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Savage Republic Zoviet France, SPK, and Nurse with Wound, Steamshovel Monkey wielded their own brand of sonic discord. Utilizing found objects from the local junkyards, such as a 100 gallon oil barrel, metal air ducts, railroad tracks, chains, sheet metal, and along with guitars, moog synthisizers, bass, two drummers, various tape loops, and vocals, these recordings follow Steamshovel Monkey in various stages and places, from basement shows, to living rooms, to their warehouse practice space known as the Monkey House. From the ashes of Steamshovel Monkey, Onomatopoeia evolved keeping its old school influences with the current new technologies. Onomatopoeia presents to the listener these never before released recordings, a documentation of one band''s evolution of humble beginnings.
