At the age of nine years old Wayne Powell started singing gospel. He began singing in churches in the East Baton Rouge area and surrounding parishes. He loved reaching out to people through songs of praise.
Wayne was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Rev. Dorothy C. Powell and the late Deacon Ernest Powell. His singing background came from his mother and father, which were inspirational in his love for spreading the good news through songs.

Wayne''s ministry is to reach out to everyone by spreading a positive message through songs. He has had an opportunity to sing with such groups as the William''s Brothers, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Willie Neal Johnson and The Gospel Keynotes, Slim and The Supreme Angels, The Blind Boys and other gospel artists.

"Let the Sun Come Out" is contemporary gospel with a blend of old traditional gospel and yet some of the songs can also be crossover songs. It is a little mixture of all yet the message is positive and clear.
