Pax Americana, the album and the reality, involves war, corporate power, political corruption, and public apathy. The emotional experience of these conditions is complex and may by turns elicit horror, mirth, fear, hope, despair, or joy.
In creating Pax Americana, Jay Blagdon, a talented songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist who lives in Portland, Maine, was inspired by the investigative work of Noam Chomsky, Chalmers Johnson, and Amy Goodman, to name a few, and by the musical chops and restive spirits of bands and musicians such as The Doors and John Cale. Listen to some clips! This album, with its highly original, daring music, (along with its handsome album art featuring an enless line of tank chassis being transported by train in the New Mexico desert), constitutes a uniquely absorbing musical experience.
