This CD comprises three Old English tales told to the accompaniment of the Anglo-Saxon harp, or lyre, with poetry in the Anglo-Saxon alliterative line. Each tale takes us further back in time; firstly to an historically attested tale from the Norman Conquest; the second, a legendary tale, takes us back to the pre-migration home of the Angles in what is today Schleswig; the third takes us into mythic time, a story that was reborn wherever Germanic peoples settled. Here, its hero comes to England.
