One of Cuba''s most outstanding new timba groups is La Caro Band . Led by Blas Muñoz, and fronted by four sisters, including his wife Martha and lead singer Lisette, La Caro Band is a family affair.

The New York Times took the positive ambiance of the Caro clan as proof that "families that sing together have an extraordinary blend," and noted the group''s "cheerful and good-natured" timbre.

With their warm and welcoming sound, it''s as if we''ve been invited into their home for a full plate of white rice and black beans, shots of rum and dancing on the living room floor.

La Caro Band is not from Havana, but the rural town of Jovellanos in the province of Matanzas. Conceivably, it''s the rural background of the band which gives them their down-home feel. Their straight-ahead approach sets them apart from the slicker Havana bands.
